PitPrint Support
Something not working, or have an idea? Write to me, I usually reply within a few days.
Tell me whether you use PitPrint on a Mac or an iPhone, your system version and printer, and what exactly happens. A screenshot helps a lot.
Common questions
Maybe the answer is already here.
PitPrint doesn’t see my printer
Check that the printer is on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Mac or iPhone.
PitPrint needs local network access. On iPhone, turn it on in Settings → Apps → PitPrint; on a Mac, in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network.
On iPhone you can also add a printer manually: “Add by IP Address…”.
I have an older printer without AirPrint
On iPhone, PitPrint finds older PostScript printers on your network by itself and prints to them without a Mac.
On a Mac, such a printer is listed under “Need Setup”. The button next to it opens the system’s Add Printer window; after that you print from PitPrint as usual.
Which edge should I choose for two-sided printing?
Long edge: you turn the sheet sideways, like a book. Short edge: you flip the sheet upwards, like a notepad.
The preview shows both sides of the sheet. The “Flip” button turns it over.
Which files does PitPrint support?
PDF, photos, Word documents (DOCX, and on a Mac also the older DOC), OpenDocument (ODT), RTF and plain text.
Save spreadsheets and presentations as PDF first.
How do I open a file from another app?
On iPhone: Share → PitPrint. On a Mac: in any app, ⌘P → PDF → Open in PitPrint. You can also just drop a file on the PitPrint window.
How do I scan?
On a Mac, a scanner button appears in the toolbar next to “+” when PitPrint sees a scanner. On iPhone, scan with the camera or with your printer’s scanner on the network.
“Scan & Print” prints the scan right away, like a copier.
Why don’t I see toner or paper levels?
Toner and paper levels are only available for network printers. Some printers don’t report them, but they print normally.
